BOISE, Idaho (CBS2) — Boise Police chased a man early Tuesday morning who was driving recklessly in a stolen vehicle down the connector with the lights off with drugs in the car.
33-year-old Zakkery Martin from Jerome was spotted driving recklessly down Fairview Ave. around 2:20 am Tuesday morning. The officer pursued Martin and attempted to pull him over when he increased to a high-rate of speed and entered the connector. Martin then turned the lights off and continued driving erratically.
The officer pulled back as the rate of speed became dangerous, but officers were able to locate the vehicle in a hotel parking lot sometime later. Martin was identified as he exited the hotel but ran back inside once he saw police. He pulled the fire alarm and sprinted down several floors of the hotel before police finally caught up to him and took him into custody.
Martin was found to have drugs and paraphernalia in the vehicle along with a wallet stolen from a different vehicle that was reported the day prior.
Martin is facing charges of fleeing police, stolen transaction card, grand theft, reckless driving, drug paraphernalia, and probation violation.
