Seed and Garden: Citrus trees

If you want to bear fruit this summer, CBS2 met with experts at Franz Witte to discuss citrus trees.

Judeana, with Franz Witte, says, "We carry a pretty great variety of citrus trees. We carry some lemons, limes, some mandarins and some different oranges...We also do carry some fig trees and some pomegranate shrubs as well."

Judeana says the best way to care for your citrus trees in Idaho is to keep them indoors, around 65 degrees. You can have them as a patio plant in the summer as well. "Just make sure to bring it inside when the night temperatures start getting around 50 and 60 degrees."

"The best time to fertilize your citrus trees are when they're just starting to produce flowers and fruit, [which] can sometimes be the early spring," Judeana adds. "The best fertilizer to look for is specifically anything that says fruit tree."
